The only items that can be placed in the "corner" location of the Taskbar are those icon authorized by Windows

Settings > Personalization > Taskbar

Section "Notification Area" > Select which icons appear on the taskbar

You can add the Printer Assistant shortcut to the regular Taskbar area (longer bar area)

If you have not done so,

First

Create a Shortcut for the Printer on your Desktop

Next

After the shortcut is created, Right-Click on the shortcut and "Pin to Taskbar"

What about creating the shortcut?

The trick to this is to add the "extra bits" to the target shortcut to open "just the printer assistant" and not the companion web page that wants to open when the executable is pulled directly from the folder.

Example Shortcut target content for Printer Assistant

"C:\Program Files\HP\HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 series\Bin\HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 series.exe" -Start UDCDevicePage

Example

Printer_Assistant_Shortcut_Create_2Printer_Assistant_Shortcut_Create_2

Thanks DF! Created the short-cut on the desk top. Right clicking does not show “Pin to Taskbar” at all. I try dragging it to the taskbar and when it’s hovering over it, this 🚫 shows on the icon.

This really shouldn’t be that hard.😔

You are welcome.

I think I do not understand the question or your situation is different enough from what I know that the answers are simply not relevant.  Testing shows "it should work" - and yet here we are.  Rather than waste time and effort, I've pulled the content for additional review.

Good Luck.

Stay Safe.
