How do I print #10 envelopes from Windows on OfficeJet Pro 8710?

Since upgrading my HP Laptop, when I try to print #10 envelopes on my OfficeJet Pro 8710, I get the message that the envelope in the printer does not match the size selected does not match the size selected (8.3x11} by the printer.   Did not have this problem with my previous laptop.  I can print envelopes on my wife's printer (OfficeJet Pro 6978) with no problem from my laptop.

If "upgrade" refers to having changed the version of Windows running on the computer - for example, an in-place "upgrade" from Windows 10 to Windows 11, then the printer software likely did not survive the process of changing the version of Windows.

If "upgrade" refers to having changed your user account, either changing from one account to another or changing the account login parameters, it is possible the process damaged your printer control profile (in your user account).  Sometimes the fix is the same as for any other type of "corruption" - Remove and Reinstall the printer software.

If the "upgrade" refers to a new computer - and if you have not yet done so - Install the full driver printer software onto your computer.

One or more of:

• Uninstall the printer software from Programs and Features
• Restart the computer and log in
• Install a fresh copy of the full driver printer software

Ask if you need the instructions to uninstall / install the Full Feature Software.

Once the printer software is (again) working and able to print standard documents,

(Re)Check the following:

• Open printer tray
• Remove envelopes -wait three seconds - and Reload the envelopes into the printer tray
• Close the tray
• Look for a message on the printer display panel
• Edit the paper size / type to match the envelope #10 paper
• Accept the change (click OK, for example)

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers

Right-Click on your printer > Printing Preferences

• When called from within printing software / applications, Printing Preferences might be called "Printer Properties" / "Shortcuts" / “More Settings” / “Properties” / "Printer Setup" or similar.

• No Size?  If the size of the Paper Size is not included in the Drop-down list, consider / try:  Create a Custom Paper Size Form.  Reference:  HP Printers - Creating Custom Paper Sizes

NOTE >> Word > Mailings > Envelopes  :: Preferences and Envelopes 

Select / leave Printing Preferences Shortcut to "Everyday Printing" or something equally benign.

If you are creating your envelope manually, that is, you have created a document in the size and shape of your envelope,

Select your Printing Preferences as Shortcut = Everyday Printing and then edit the Paper Size in the appropriate tab.
