HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer

I had to reinstall my printer after it failed to work (again). Now it is suddenly printing the website info in the header and footer area.  I cannot find any way to get rid of it.  Nothing in the printer settings addresses this.  I have to use Firefox as my website only works well there so please do not suggest I use a different browser.

Hi @kdurand,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

I see that you are facing an issue with your Printer.

A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.

C) If the issue still persists, uninstall the printer software by following the steps from this link and restart the devices.

D)  Install the printer software by clicking on the link again and let me know if that resolves the issue.

Note: Enable Bluetooth for an HP Smart app setup: Enable Bluetooth on your computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.

I already did those things because the printer would not work, was not recognized as connected or 'on'.
It began to work after that, but also began to print the website header and footers on most pages.

There has to be a setting somewhere for that.

I discovered that the header thing was a Firefox issue that had to be corrected with their behind-the-scenes about: settings.

I am still having issues with the printer.  It prints the 1st print job perfectly then quits communicating via the network with my computer.  I've done your process of rebooting the printer several times.  Nothing works permantly.

If I run Print Scan Doctor, it works (most of the time) and I can then print for a while.

I print one thing, then it has a undefined printer error and nothing prints after that. Then I have to stop and find/run print dr. and this usually works.  Last week it did not work until after the 3rd try.

ALL VERY FRUSTRATING, especially with a busy morning that I need to get things printed and out the door!.

I printed about 5 things and then it stopped communicating with my computer.  I ran scan dr. and it cannot communicate with the printer now.  Is this just a bad printer?  a lemon?  It just ran out of warranty, of course.

Please follow the steps below to connect your printer to the network again as it gets disconnected from your PC frequently.

1) Uninstall the HP smart app by click on this link, Restart the computer or mobile device to clear possible error conditions.

2) Enable Wi-Fi setup mode: When you turn on your printer for the first time, it is temporarily placed in Wi-Fi setup mode so that it can be discovered during setup. Use the printer control panel to restore Wi-Fi setup mode, and then set up the printer again. Go to Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on your HP printer for more information.

3) Refer to this link to use the HP smart app on your phone/tablet/PC to add a printer.

Note: Enable Bluetooth for an HP Smart app setup: Enable Bluetooth on your computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.

The printer is connected to the network, my computer just can't find it.  The printer works from other computers, just not mine.  These are the same computer, same programs and are connected via windows, etc. and are sitting about 6 feet from the printer.

Now, the printer won't print at all from my computer, no matter what i do.  For over a week I have had to remove the printer and re-install it on this laptop.  Now that doesn't even work. HP print and scan doctor can sometimes see the printer, but not communicate with it.  Sometimes it does not find the printer at all.

I have removed HP Smart  app several times and reinstalled it.  This does nothing.
