I set a static IP on accident on an HP printer.  I can get to the web interface to log in however, it won't take the PIN that prints out on the information page.  I want to reset this printer to factory defaults and start completely over.  Product Name:  HP LaserJet MFP M234dw

Hi @ilovedogs99,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

I understand you would like to reset the printer

We can perform a factory default on the printer to resolve the issue

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
  • In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Support Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

The only option to perform a reset on this model printer is via the EWS page of the printer.

For more info, refer to page 68 of the user guide.

To resolve the blinking light issue, refer to - Error codes and blinking lights

I have the same problem. Printer is LaserJet M 234dw. I use MacBook or PC with windows 11.

Please send me the instruction how to reset the printer to the factory settings so I could connect and use the original key from the printer.

Thank you!

Hello Jay_G24,

I have an HP LaserJet M234sdwe that I am having problem with.  At first, I was having problem just to set it up.  Smart App just can't register the printer with HP.  So it keep saying setup is not complete so I cannot use the printer.   The printer was able to get an IP address so I was able to access the printer's webpage.  Last thing I did was to switch the printer to static IP and every since then, I was not able to get back to the pritner's webpage.  When I print an information page, it still have the same IP but I just couldn't get to it.  So I have 2 questions, 1) how do I reset the IP config to the manufactory default and 2) is there a way to do a hard reset of the printer on the printer itself (not the webpage)?  If you have any pointers on setting the printer up, I would appreciate them very much too.

Thank you

Kit

Restore original factory defaults and settings -

If you disable some functions or change some settings and want to change them back, you can restore the printer to the original factory settings or network settings.

1. Open EWS. See To access and use the Embedded Web Server (EWS).

2. On the System tab, click Service.

3. In the Restore Defaults area, click the Restore defaults button
