I've had this printer for 1 yr and it's nothing but a problem....nothing on the site helps to find or reset a forgotten password.  Each time I try, something is missing...no choice such as "reset to factory" is not an option.  I just want to start over, and I'm not getting that option

Hi @Stuknbama,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I know how frustrating it can be to get locked out of your printer settings, especially after already dealing with issues. Let’s walk through the ways you can reset or recover the administrator password on your HP 9130b:

1. Try the Printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Make sure the printer is connected to your network.

Print a Network Configuration Page (from the printer’s control panel → ReportsNetwork Summary).

Type the printer’s IP address into your web browser.

If you are asked for credentials, try the defaults:

Username: admin

Password: leave blank
(If changed before, this won’t work, so continue below.)

2. Reset Password from the Control Panel

On the printer’s control panel, press Setup / Settings → Restore Settings.

Look for Restore Network Settings or Restore Defaults.

Note: On some models, the “Restore Factory Defaults” option is only available via the Administrator Tools menu.

3. Full Factory Reset

If you don’t see a “factory reset” option, you can try a hardware reset:

Power off the printer.

Hold down # and 6 on the keypad.

While holding the keys, power the printer back on.

Continue holding until the display shows “Resetting” or “Permanent Storage Init.”

This resets the printer to factory defaults, clearing the admin password.

I hope this helps.
