Hi - I have my printer connected to my computer via USB cable and I like it that way. I keep having to dismiss error messages that tell me that my printer isn't connected to the internet (I "ok" the message and then can print). It's annoying. Any way to stop getting those? Thanks!

It's an officejet 9015e, the error message is titled "connection problem" and it says "without an internet connection you might lose the ability to print very soon. reconnect your printer to the internet with either a Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection to continue printing". once I hit "ok" it prints my document. I can't think of any changes to my computer (but my employer can download random software occasionally) and I can't remember if it's always been like this (it's a fairly new printer and I don't print often). Thank you!

Hi @mmm34

To stop the error message about your HP printer not being connected to the internet, especially if you only intend to use it via USB, follow these steps:

  1. Disable Web Services:
    • On the printer's control panel, navigate to the Settings or Setup menu.
    • Look for HP Web Services or ePrint options.
    • Disable Web Services to prevent the printer from trying to connect to the internet.
  2. Disable Wi-Fi Direct/Networking:
    • Go to the Network Settings or Wireless section.
    • Turn off Wi-Fi Direct or any Wireless Connection if you are using the printer via USB only.
  3. HP Smart App Settings (if applicable):
    • Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
    • Locate your printer and navigate to the settings within the app.
    • Disable any cloud-based or internet-dependent features like Instant Ink, Print Anywhere, or Remote Printing.

These steps should stop the printer from checking for an internet connection and remove the error message.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
