Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

I just set up the Office Jet 3830.  I am having trouble finding any information about it.

1. This website said hp Smart is all I need. I set up an account and I don't see anything on it. What is it useful for?

 2. If I unplug the printer, will I have to set up wireless again?

3. How long is the warranty that comes with the printer.?

Not sure  - Something is not right.

Software and Drivers > HP Smart for Mac OS

The system requirements at the Mac Store and document HP Printers - Install and Use the HP Smart App (Mac)

both indicate the application requires  macOS 10.12 or later.

The easiest option (looking at this from the outside) is to upgrade your mac OS version to 10.12 or later.

I have no idea at all whether this is something you could do (I don't speak nor own a Mac computer).

Let's tag in someone who should know what is going on:

@ShlomiL

Software and Drivers indicate 10.11 is supported.

Other sources say the OS must be 10.12 or  later.

Words of wisdom?  Thanks!

The Mac App Store offers the latest HP Smart app 4.6 for Mac OS 10.12 or later, however you should be able to install HP Smart 3.6 on 10.11 too, this can be obtained from http://123.hp.com or from the product support page @Dragon-Fur.

For the issue, could you clarify what exact behavior occurs @mr-4?

What happens when you open HP Smart?

Can you see your printer after clicking the plus sign? you should select the device first with HP Smart

Is the printer been connected to the wireless network?

You may also try installing the printer using HP Easy Start, by following the steps on screen:

Thanks!  Awkward that the Software and Drivers would not have found and installed the right version.

??

I cannot describe what would happen beyond what is stated by @mr-4

There is not one single Mac OS in our house except my Annie-iPad.  Smiling.

@mr-4

Looks like you need the older version of HP Smart for Mac.

Did I tag you @Dragon-Fur? 🙄

That was not my intention this time, I do remember your expertise of Macs from previous discussions, during the days where we could have some good discussion, not via Zoom 😏

Cheers,

Shlomi
