HP OfficeJet 5252 All-in-One Printer
iOS

This is a stupid question. I am setting up a HP office jet 5252 all in one printer. I opened the top and I did not have enough sense to get it down. Can’t find this in the instructions. Can anyone help?

Hi @1769,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your concern!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

First off, this is not a stupid question! If anything, it’s proof that you’re being careful with your brand-new printer, which is way smarter than forcing it shut and hoping for the best.

Now, let’s get that top back down smoothly. The lid on the HP OfficeJet 5252 has a bit of resistance to keep it from slamming shut. Just give it a gentle but confident nudge downward, think of it like closing the hood of a car, but way less dramatic. If it feels stuck, take a peek to make sure nothing is in the way, like packing material or the scanner arm not sitting right.

1. Identifying the Opened Section:

  • Scanner Lid: This is the topmost part where you place documents for scanning or copying.
  • Main Top Cover (Ink Cartridge Access): This section provides access to the ink cartridges and internal components.

2. Closing the Scanner Lid:

  • If you've opened the scanner lid, gently lower it back down until it rests securely in place.

3. Closing the Main Top Cover:

  • If you've opened the main top cover to access the ink cartridges, ensure that:
    • The ink cartridges are properly installed.
    • There are no obstructions or packing materials inside the printer.
  • Gently lower the main top cover until it clicks into position.

For a visual guide, you can refer to the HP OfficeJet 5200 Series User Manual, which provides detailed illustrations and instructions.

And hey, if it makes you feel better, you’re not the only one who’s paused mid-setup wondering, ‘Wait… how does this go back down?’ Happens to the best of us! Let me know if you need more help, I’ve got your back!"

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?"—your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀
