HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 All-in-One Printer
macOS 10.12 Sierra

Folks, three hours in I've tried everything to clear out a "paper jam" indication on my HP OfficeJet Pro 9010.  My last stop is to "Factory Reset" this printer.  I can't do this using the touch screen on my printer as it's stuck in a "Paper Jam" error loop.  I've downloaded HP Smart on my laptop, created an account, added the printer; but can't access any options for navigating to "Advance Settings" or any other settings on my printer via HP Smart.   Warranty is out of date and no options to contact a live human for support.  Would rather fix this printer than sending it on to the landfill.

Hi @BART4903,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Open HP Smart App

  1. Launch HP Smart App:
    • Open the HP Smart app on your laptop.
    • Sign in to your HP account if prompted.

Navigate to Printer Settings

  1. Choose Your Printer:
    • On the HP Smart app homepage, select your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 printer from the list of printers.

Access Printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Access Advanced Settings:

  • In the HP Smart app, find and click on the option that says Printer Settings or Advanced Settings. This might be under the Tools or Settings menu.

Open Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • You will need to access the printer’s Embedded Web Server. To do this:
    • Look for the Settings or Advanced Settings option.
    • There should be an option to View Embedded Web Server (EWS) or Web Services. Click on this option.

Perform Factory Reset

Login to EWS:

  • You may need to log in using the printer's username and password. If you haven't set a specific password, try using admin as the username and leave the password field blank, or check the default credentials in the printer manual.

Navigate to Factory Reset Settings:

  • Once you’re in the Embedded Web Server, navigate to the Settings or Maintenance tab.
  • Look for the Printer Maintenance or Restore Defaults option.

Restore Factory Settings:

  • Click on the Restore Factory Settings or Reset option.
  • Confirm any prompts to proceed with the factory reset.

Troubleshooting Paper Jam

Before performing the reset, ensure you've tried clearing the paper jam thoroughly as follows:

  1. Check Paper Path:
    • Open all accessible doors and remove any jammed paper.
    • Check for bits of paper stuck in the rollers or any hidden areas.
  2. Inspect Rollers and Sensors:
    • Clean the rollers with a lint-free cloth.
    • Ensure there are no obstructions blocking the sensors.

I hope this helps.
