What you get depends on a number of factors, including (and perhaps not limited to):

• Size of the cartridge - cartridges come in more than one size, for example: Regular, XL, maybe XXL, and Instant Ink (typically larger than regular cartridges and only available with an Instant Ink Print-by-Page subscription)
• The efficiency of the printer >  how the particular printer model uses ink
• The density of the photo (dpi / ppi / resolution)
• The amount of the individual color that is present in the photo.  For example, black ink is used in colors besides black and colored ink can be used in areas of the photo that appear to be black.
