HP Deskjet 1120C

Hi, I have an HP Deskjet 1120C that is capable of printing a Banner which is considered a 'Special feature'. How can I print a Banner with either a windows 10 PC or Linux. I was not able to find a driver for the Windows 10 machine. I have been able to print from Linux upto the max sheet size of 13in X 19in.

I have been trying to find a detailed PCL3 enhanced specification to figure this out but kn luck there yet either.

Thank you,

Bruce.

@BruceSamhaber, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Upon checking I see that there is no full-featured software available for your printer. You can install the Windows built-in drivers to see if that helps.

Follow the steps below:

•    Go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.

•    When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.

•    Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.

Refer to this document HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver for help.

Keep me posted.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

I tried installing the drivers on Windows 10 laptop and on an Windows XP desktop but  was only able to print 8.5x11in pages from the WinXP machine. There was no driver for the Windows 10 and not parallel port.

I will try for a driver on my Windows 7 desktop, it should have a parallel port.

Is the source code for the PCL3 enhanced driver available or open source? I am insterested in trying to make this feature work.

I may also do some testing on an old Windows98 machine if I can get one to run then install the original software. The description in the manual calls the Banner a Special Feature that the HP Print Driver supports.

Thank you for your help.,

Bruce.

Hi,

Some other suggested approaches to getting the Banner printing to work that I have found are to use Print servers. However, I have not been able to determine if any of the print servers that I have looked at actually do any more than provide an remote ethernet access to a parallel port printer. That is do any print servers process PDFs or Postscript files into PCL3+ format for the HP Deskjet 1120C printer?

The print servers that I have looked at are:

HP JETDIRECT 300X EXTERNAL PRINT SERVER J3263-60001

Startech 1 port Ethernet Network Parallel Print Server for Windows 10

HP Jetdirect 170x External Print Server for Ethernet 10Base-T Networks

Do you have any information on whether these would support the printer?

Thanks Bruce.
