How can I name my printer so that when I go to print something from my PC or mobile I can easily find the printer I'm looking for?
For example, when I go to print something I want to see a printer choice of "Living Room Printer" or "Office Printer" rather than a lot of model numbers that don't make sense to me.

Hi @JeffOnWire,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
You can rename your HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e printer to something more meaningful like "Living Room Printer" or "Office Printer" by following these steps.
On Windows PC:
- Open Control Panel:
- Search for "Control Panel" in the Windows search bar and open it.
- Go to Devices and Printers:
- Click on Devices and Printers under "Hardware and Sound."
- Select Your Printer:
- Right-click on your printer (currently listed with its model number) and choose Printer Properties (not just "Properties").
- Change the Name:
- In the Printer Properties window, go to the General tab.
- Change the name in the Name field to your desired name (e.g., "Living Room Printer").
- Save Changes:
- Click OK to save the new name.
On Mac:
- Open System Settings:
- Click the Apple menu () and select System Settings or System Preferences.
- Go to Printers & Scanners:
- Select Printers & Scanners.
- Rename the Printer:
- Select your printer from the list.
- Click Options & Supplies (or equivalent, depending on your macOS version).
- Rename the printer in the Name field.
- Save Changes:
- Click OK or Save to apply the new name.
On Mobile (HP Smart App):
- Open the HP Smart App:
- Open the HP Smart app on your mobile device.
- Select Your Printer:
- Tap on your printer to open its settings.
- Rename Printer:
- Look for an option like Printer Settings or Printer Name.
- Enter the new name for your printer.
- Save Changes:
- Confirm the new name.

Note:
If your printer is connected to your network, you may also rename it through its embedded web server (EWS) by:
- Typing the printer's IP address into a web browser.
- Logging in (if prompted).
- Changing the printer name in the Network Settings or similar section.
Once renamed, the new name will appear in your list of printers, making it easier to identify.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
