Hi, I am using a 2700 printer and have just purchased a third party ink cartridge. In the past I've had the option to check that yes I am aware this is a third party ink cartridge and would like to use it anyway. Today it is outright blocking the cartridge and refusing to print. I'm having a hard time finding the option to allow the printer to use the ink, or to roll back the firmware to one that will allow the printer to use the ink? I'm very frustrated with this, as I paid for the printer, paid for the ink, paid for the paper, and now am having to pay for documents to be printed elsewhere.

Some HP printers with original, not updated firmware can use non-HP ink, your 2700 is not one of them, sorry. HP is not the only company that wants their own ink used. The last time I checked, Epson, Canon and Brother all do the same.

Some Laserjet printers can avoid these restrictions by not updating firmware.
My HP CM1415 takes any type of cheap toner. The cheaper the toner the uglier the printout.

None of the following work but you can try if you like
inkjet chip
