The printer defaults to 2-sided printing.  I want to change that to 1-sided. I realize that I can do that each time I send a document to the printer, but I'd like to make that setting permanent so I don't need to set it each time I print.

Thanks for your help,
GREENIE6

Hi @Greenie6,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

To make 1-sided printing your default on an HP printer, update the settings through your computer's OS rather than the application. The steps vary slightly depending on whether you are using Windows or macOS.

In Windows:

  1. Open the Windows Printers & Scanners menu: Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.

  2. Click on your HP printer, then select Printing Preferences.

  3. Look for a tab like Layout, Finishing, or Printing Shortcut.

  4. Locate the 2-Sided Printing (Duplex) option and change it to 1-Sided.

  5. Click Apply and then OK.

  6. For global defaults, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, select Printer properties, click the Advanced tab, and click Printing Defaults to confirm the change.

On macOS:

  1. Open a document and click File > Print.

  2. If necessary, click Show Details at the bottom of the window to see all print options.

  3. Locate the Two-Sided option and uncheck it.

  4. Click the Presets drop-down menu and select Save Current Settings as Preset.

  5. Name the preset (e.g., "One-Sided"). You can set this as the default for all printers or this specific printer.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
