Hi Johnyvegas007

A factory reset will restore the printer's settings (especially network and security settings) to their original defaults.

Factory Reset Steps

Follow these steps exactly to restore the factory defaults on your HP LaserJet M209dw (which is part of the M207-M212 series):

  1. Turn Off the Printer: Press the Power button to turn the printer off.

  2. Disconnect Power: Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer or the wall outlet. Wait for about 30 seconds for all remaining power to drain.

  3. Find the Resume Button: Locate the Resume button on the printer's control panel. This is usually the button with an arrow icon pointing down or to the right.

  4. Press and Hold: Press and hold down the Resume button (arrow icon). Do not release it.

  5. Reconnect Power: While still holding the Resume button, plug the power cord back into the printer and the wall outlet.

  6. Wait for Light: Continue holding the Resume button until the Information light (the 'i' icon) on the control panel turns on.

  7. Release: Once the Information light is on, release the Resume button.

The printer will automatically restart and complete the factory default restoration process, which should take about 20 seconds. Once it's ready, the printer will be in the initial setup mode, and you can reconnect it to your network.

Alternative: Reset via Embedded Web Server (EWS)

If the button method is difficult, you can perform a similar reset using the printer's web interface, though this requires the printer to still be on a network:

  1. Get the IP Address: Print a Network Configuration Page (usually by pressing and holding the Information button 'i' for a few seconds).

  2. Access EWS: Open a web browser on a computer connected to the same network and type the printer's IP Address into the address bar.

  3. Navigate to Settings: In the EWS, look for the Settings or System tab.

  4. Restore Defaults: Look for Service or Restore Factory Defaults and follow the prompts to reset.
