Hi, I set a password on my printer however when I try to login using the password or pin I cannot access any printer settings. Does anyone know how to factory reset my HP Laserjet MFP M234dw so I access my printer again.

Hi @Bazrace,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP LaserJet MFP M234dw is locked by a password or PIN and you’re unable to access the printer settings. Let’s go through a few steps to factory reset the printer and regain access.

Turn the printer off
Press the Power button to turn the printer off and wait until it is completely shut down.

Enter the factory reset mode
Press and hold the Cancel (X) button and the Wireless button at the same time, then turn the printer back on while holding both buttons.

Hold the buttons until reset starts
Continue holding the buttons for about 10–15 seconds, then release them when the printer begins the reset process.

Wait for the printer to restart
The printer will automatically restart once the factory reset is complete. This clears saved settings, including passwords and network information.

Reconfigure the printer
After the reset, reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi using the HP Smart app and set up any preferences again.

Confirm access to settings
Once setup is complete, try opening the printer settings to confirm the password and PIN have been cleared.

I hope this helps.
