I was running into an issue where the printer settings could not be changed in any way due to being locked out of the admin/not having password/no password. You can perform a reset of the system by pressing the back arrow button 4 times/where the back arrow button should be. This will pull up a secret menu. You can navigate to Resets menu then select semi-full reset from there. Once your printer turns off, power it back on and you should be directed through the setup menus as if it were a new device.

Hi @lowlevelartific,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

To be able to answer you effectively, we need some information.

May I have the exact product name and number? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

The support is closed. I posted this because I found the solution in the comments of a YouTube video - and not here - and wanted to make sure that solution was easier to find for others.
