How to get firmware update for expired printer

This printer was new in 2022, but I just opened the box and want to use it. I need to know if there is a firmware update since then, but HP says warranty has expired. It was never opened or used until this year. The HP device page tells me expired and won't show me if there  were any firmware updates. Am I wrong in thinking firmware updates should be available even for printers out of warranty?
