@Geo135, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Installing Print Cartridges in HP ENVY 5000 Printers!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Installing print cartridges in your HP ENVY 5000 series printer is generally a straightforward process. If you're experiencing issues with fully inserting the cartridges, follow these detailed steps:

Turn on the Printer: Ensure the printer is powered on. This allows the cartridge carriage to move freely.

Open Cartridge Access Door: Use the handles on the sides of the printer to lift the cartridge access lid until it locks into place. This brings the cartridge carriage into view and makes it accessible for cartridge installation.

Opening the lid to access the cartridges

  1. Remove Old Cartridge: If there is a cartridge already in the slot, open the latch and carefully pull it up and out of the slot.

  1. Prepare New Cartridge: Remove the new cartridge from the packaging, being careful to handle it by the black plastic sides only. Remove the protective tape from the cartridge. Avoid touching the copper-colored contacts or ink nozzles, as this can cause ink system failure.

Insert New Cartridge: Slide the cartridge into its color-coded slot and press down firmly to ensure it is securely seated. Close the latch once the cartridge is in place.

Close Cartridge Access Lid: Lower the cartridge access lid until it snaps shut.

Alignment: If an alignment page prints automatically after installation, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the cartridge alignment process.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
