HP Smart is an application.

Open Windows Start > All apps

Find and Right-Click on the application

Pin to Start

To add the app to your Taskbar

Right-Click on the application > More > Pin to Taskbar

Dragon-fur,

I tried you solution and when I right-click on the HP Smart app, it does nothing. Just sits there. Probably a different version of Windows. I recently re-installed Windows 10. I'll go to the Microsoft community forum answers.Microsoft.com and ask the question there.

Thanks for you help.

Dragon-fur,

answers.Microsoft provided a solution.

On the Start Menu in the alphabetical list, scroll down to find HP apps and see if that HP Smart App is there. To create a Desktop shortcut, drag that icon out onto the Desktop. To create a Taskbar icon, right click HP Smart on the Start Menu and choose 'Pin to Taskbar'.

Excellent, there you go.

Honestly, I'd forgotten about the drag and drop method in Windows 10 Start - At some point, I'd switched my Start menu to Full Size - I never bothered to set it back to where I could grab an application off of the menu.

Yes, Grab and Drag, PIN to Start, and Pin to Taskbar work for the app in both Windows 10 and Windows 11 Start > All Apps
