Hi @PC051954,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
HP printers typically allow you to set a custom name or description for each printer on your network. This can be helpful when you have multiple HP printers and want to make it easier for users to select the correct one for printing. Here are the steps to rename an HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 or a similar HP printer.
Access the Printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS): To configure the printer's settings, you'll need to access its Embedded Web Server. You can do this through a web browser on a computer connected to the same network as the printer. Here's how:
a. Find the printer's IP address. You can usually find this information on the printer's display or by printing a network configuration page.
b. Open a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Edge) on a computer connected to the same network as the printer.
c. Enter the printer's IP address into the browser's address bar and press Enter. This will take you to the printer's EWS page.
Log In (if required): Depending on your printer's settings, you may need to log in with the printer's administrative credentials. If you haven't set up a username and password for your printer, you may not need to do this.
Navigate to the Printer Settings: The exact location of the printer settings may vary depending on the printer model and firmware version, but generally, you'll want to look for a section related to printer settings or configuration.
Change the Printer Name: Within the printer settings, you should find an option to change the printer name or description. This is where you can give your printer a custom name. Edit the name to something that helps identify the printer, such as "OfficeJet Pro 8035 - Front Office."
Save the Changes: After entering the new name, be sure to save the changes. This is usually done by clicking a "Save" or "Apply" button within the printer's settings.
Test the New Name: Once you've saved the changes, try printing a test page from a computer or device. You should now see the custom name you've assigned to the printer in the list of available printers.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
