Hi, I can log in and access my HP Printer 3636 model using the IP address 192.168.223.1 however when I go to its settings to configure my printer it asks for an admin password which I forget. I know the username is admin but password I do not remember anymore. I tried to reset my printer by holding the power button and then the cancel button for a few seconds before releasing the cancel button first followed by the power button which prints a page but does not complete the factory reset. I still cannot log in using admin/admin credentials assuming these are the default login credentials on my printer.

Can you please help me to understand how to perform a hard factory reset on my printer?

Hi @vinod01391 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Performing a factory reset on an HP Printer, including the HP DeskJet 3636, usually involves a specific process. If the regular method you've tried hasn't worked, you can attempt the following steps for a hard factory reset:

Turn on the printer: Make sure your printer is turned on.

Locate the Reset button: Find the Reset button on your printer. It's usually a small hole that requires a paperclip or a pin to press.

Power off the printer: Turn off the printer by disconnecting the power cable or pressing the power button.

Press and hold the Reset button: Use a paperclip or pin to press and hold the Reset button. Keep it pressed while you move on to the next step.

Power on the printer: While still holding the Reset button, turn on the printer. Continue holding the Reset button until the printer's lights flash or there's some other indication that the reset process is underway.

Release the Reset button: Once you see signs that the reset is happening, release the Reset button.

Wait for the reset to complete: Allow the printer some time to complete the factory reset process. This might take a few minutes.

Check the default settings: After the reset is complete, try accessing the printer settings using the default credentials. The default username is usually "admin," and the password might be blank or set to "admin."

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
