HP ENVY Inspire 7920e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I recently cancelled my HP+ subscription as I do little printing any more - just the odd letter. As instructed by HP in the subscription cancellation email, I bought new HP ink cartridges for £35 and attempted to set up the printer from scratch. The new cartridges are recognised as non HP+ but whatever I have attempted, such as a factory reset or a cold reset followed by a set up via HP Easy Start or HP Smart, I am unable to stop my printer seemingly being hardwired as an HP+ printer. Even when the set up seemed successful, I go to print something and a message appears on the printers screen saying 'Finish printer setup to enable printing' and at the same time HP Smart still shows my printer as being HP+. I would hate to throw away a little used printer that is an otherwise perfectly good functioning almost brand new printer, but this is may have to be my option and what a waste. I would be grateful for any workable solutions to this problem.

Just to clarify: HP instant ink and HP+ are two entirely different products. Instant ink is a subscription service that can be cancelled. HP+ is a voluntary program that cannot be cancelled and once you commit to HP+ you have agreed to use only HP OEM cartridges in the printer. This choice cannot be undone.
