How to reset Admin Password Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281

Hi,

I lost the admin password and after trying different options with no luck, can I please get help on how to reset the admin password on my HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281cdw.

This works on similar models in the 28x and 27x series.  It should work on the 281. 

Turn it off.  Let is site for about 20+ seconds.  Turn it on.  Within a few seconds put your thumb in the lower/right corner of the screen.  Not just the "tip" but flatten your thumb out on the corner of the touch screen.  Hold it there.  You will see a white bar start to crawl across the screen.  Yep, keep your thumb there.  It can take up to 90 seconds and if you pull your thumb away, start over.  When it resets it will say something like "Permanent Memory Initialization"   It may be abbreviated, depending on your screen.  Follow screen prompts to reset password.
