I own an HP 8725 and I cannot set up scanning to network. I get a message saying that I need a username and password. Perhaps I established a username and password in the long-distant past but I cannot remember what they are. How can I reset the username and password?

Thanks!!!

@wamonsen1954, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To reset the username and password for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8725 and regain access to scanning to network, follow these steps:

Option 1: Reset via Embedded Web Server (EWS)

1. Find the printer's IP address:

>On the printer's control panel, tap Settings > Network Setup > Network Status to find the IP address.

>Alternatively, print a Network Configuration Page from Reports > Network Configuration Page.

2. Access the EWS (Embedded Web Server):

>Open a web browser on your computer.

>Enter the printer's IP address in the address bar and press Enter.

3. Reset the username and password:

>Click on Security or Administrator Settings (this may vary).

>Look for an option to reset or change the Administrator password.

>If prompted for a password and you don't remember it, try leaving it blank and clicking OK.

Option 2: Reset Printer to Factory Defaults

If you cannot log in to the printer's EWS, you may need to restore the printer to factory defaults:

1. Access the Reset Menu:

>On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance.

>Select Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.

>Confirm the reset.

2. Reconfigure the printer:

>After the reset, you will need to reconnect the printer to your network and set up scan-to-network again.

Option 3: Set Up Scan-to-Network Again

If your issue is specifically related to Scan-to-Network, you might need to reconfigure it:

1. On the printer, go to Scan > Scan to Network Folder > Setup.

2. Enter new credentials if needed.

3. Make sure your computer’s shared folder is accessible and the printer has the correct permissions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
