The hp laserjet pro mfp m225dn was booting but hangs at the initializing... stage and i shutdown and remove the ink cateridge and powered on again and it printed normal.
The hang up continued afterward, so i decided to download the latest firmware update: HP LaserJet Pro Series Firmware Update Utility 20200619 and attempted updating but it was unsuccessful and it has now remain in the initializing... forever..
It is blinking half circle green and triangle orange.
I rebooted severally but the problem is the same..
i need help please....

Welcome to the HP support community.
Perform a power reset
- Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait at least 30 seconds.
- Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet and printer without any surge protector.
- Turn on the printer.
Try to update the printer firmware again

I did exactly the power cable reset but it still hangs at the initializing....
I also connected a network cable and tried to update via the network, it says no update found.
During the firmware update process, I was asked to select my printer which I did and on the printer display, i saw erasing and later programming and that was the last message and it hanged henceforth @ the initializing...
Since it was installed on my desktop, i saw in the print window saying, sending firmware as if it was a normal document for printing...
so it all crashed then....
thanks for the 1st reply but it did not help as expected...
