I'm unable to use other ink cartridges and when I use HP genuine cartridges I have to go through a whole process of enrollment. I need to by pass these things so I can print some documents. Very inconvenient. HP OfficeJet 5252.

Hi @fox992,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Current Firmware Version

  • Display on Printer: Navigate through your printer's menu to find the current firmware version.
  • HP Smart App: If you have the HP Smart app installed, it can often display the current firmware version.

Disable Automatic Firmware Updates

  • To prevent the printer from automatically updating to the latest firmware, disable the automatic updates.

Printer's Menu:

  • Navigate to the settings menu.
  • Find "Printer Updates" and select "Never" if available.

HP Smart App:

  • Open the app and select your printer.
  • Go to "Settings" and disable automatic updates.

Test with Third-Party Ink Cartridges

  • Once the rollback is complete, test your printer with the third-party or previous ink cartridges to ensure they are working correctly.

I hope this helps.

Hi @Kuroi_Kenshi

Thank you for your reply!

I am happy you are thrilled to help me solve a problem!

The problem has not yet been solved. When I go to the HP Firmware Downgrade link, I’m given the option Softwares and Drivers. Could you be so kind to direct me to the list of firmwares? I would greatly appreciate it. I have the OfficeJet 5252 All-in-One model on a Linux OS.

Hi @Kuroi_Kenshi

You just copied and paste your answer 2x now. Can you please just help with a link to the firmware? I would truly appreciate you.
