HP Smart Tank 5107 All-in-One Printer

I have 3 microsoft accounts operating off our home PC. The new printer connected with no problems to the first account. However, neither of the other accounts are able to detect the printer either as bluetooth or wireless.  What am I doing wrong??

Hi @Johnny2T, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like the printer is installed and working on the first Microsoft account but not on the others. Here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

Check Printer Sharing Settings

Since the printer is installed on the first account, it might not be shared with other users.

  • Log into the first Microsoft account (where the printer is working).
  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on the HP Smart Tank 5107 printer and select Printer Properties.
  • Under the Sharing tab, check Share this printer.
  • Apply the settings and try detecting the printer on other accounts.

Install the Printer for Each User Account

Each Microsoft account on the PC may need to install the printer separately.

  • Sign into one of the other Microsoft accounts.
  • Open Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Click Add device and wait for the HP Smart Tank 5107 to appear.
  • Select it and follow the on-screen instructions.

If the printer does not appear:

  • Click The printer that I want isn’t listed and select Add a printer using a TCP/IP address.
  • Enter the printer’s IP address (find it from the first account under Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners > Printer properties > Ports).
  • Click Next and complete the setup.

Verify Network Connectivity

  • Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as all user accounts.
  • Restart the router and reconnect the printer if necessary.
  • Try pinging the printer’s IP address from each user account to check network visibility:
    • Open Command Prompt (Win + R, type cmd, press Enter).
    • Type: ping [printer’s IP address] and press Enter.
    • If it fails, the printer might not be accessible from other accounts.

Check Windows Firewall & Security Settings

  • Go to Control Panel > Windows Defender Firewall > Allow an app through firewall.
  • Make sure File and Printer Sharing is checked for Private and Public networks.
  • Temporarily disable third-party antivirus software and see if the printer appears.

Reinstall HP Smart App for Each Account

  • Download and install the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store on each account.
  • Open the app and try detecting the printer.

Create a New Local User Profile (Test)

If the issue persists, create a new local user profile to test:

  • Go to Settings > Accounts > Family & Other Users.
  • Click Add someone else to this PC and create a new local account.
  • Sign into the new account and try adding the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
