Hi @Techhead234

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To perform a silent installation of the HP Universal Print Driver (UPD) on a Windows machine, you'll need to use command-line options that allow for the installation without user interaction. This method is commonly used in IT environments to deploy drivers across multiple systems without requiring manual intervention.

Prerequisites:

Download HP Universal Print Driver:

  • Download the HP Universal Print Driver from the official HP website.
  • Ensure you're downloading the right version for your system (32-bit or 64-bit).

Extract the Driver Files (if necessary):

  • If the downloaded file is in a compressed format (e.g., .exe), you may need to extract it first.
    • You can do this by running the .exe installer file with the -extract option to extract the contents to a folder.
    • Example: HPUPD.exe -extract "C:\HP_Universal_Driver"

Steps for Silent Installation:

Open Command Prompt as Administrator:

  • Right-click on the Start menu and select Command Prompt (Admin) or Windows PowerShell (Admin) to open an elevated command prompt.

Navigate to the Driver Folder:

  • If you extracted the driver files, use the cd command to navigate to the folder containing the extracted files. For example:cd C:\HP_Universal_Driver

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I suggest you download the "PARK" (printer administrator resource kit) for the driver as it contains a detailed manual on how to deploy UPD in a variety of manners including how to customize the install into a self install package.

If you find the information provided useful or solves your problems, help other users find the solution easier by marking my post as an accepted solution. Clicking "yes" on "was this reply helpful" also increases the chances that this solution will help others.
