I wish there were a way to squash the return of the HP Print and Scan Doctor -- the little agent was removed from service a while ago.  Unfortunately, it's part of older full driver software packages.  Each time you remove (uninstall) and then reinstall the full driver, the pesky Doctor comes back.

Thank you very much for this information.

I enabled EWS in my printer, but scan from printer display still doesn't work. I get a message to go to HP.123.com to install the HP Smart app, while the new HP app is installed.

I think I will try to install the printer on another pc to test, but I have the idea that the new app isn't developed for USB communication...

Strange is also that I removed all HP software and installed the new app with the Administrator login, and my normal Windows user can still use the HP Smart app.

You are welcome.

True -- Neither the HP Smart application nor its replacement (HP App) are suited to a USB-only environment.  HP Smart might be more tolerant.

If you wish to use the HP App, consider using a Wi-Fi Direct connection.  Wi-Fi Direct uses the printer's wireless radio to create a direct wireless connection to the computer (or tablet, phone).  Wi-Fi Direct does not support connecting the printer to the Internet -- some features, for example Instant Ink and Cloud, are not available using this type of connection.
