HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdn

Hi. I have a Hp Laser Jet Pro MFP M227fdn. Ive recently had difficulty trying to input the printer admin password. Ive completely forgot what it was. Im assuming this is not the network password and the default 12345678 password does not work also. I cant access the printer system settings or print out normally.

Is there a way to recover the password or reset the printer settings?

Thanks

Hi @Bradlley,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you've forgotten the admin password for your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdn printer and the default password isn't working, you may need to perform a factory reset to regain access to the printer settings. Here's how you can do it.

  • Power off the printer: Make sure the printer is turned off.
  • Press and hold the Resume button: Locate the Resume or Cancel button on your printer. Press and hold this button.
  • Power on the printer while holding the button: While still holding the Resume button, turn on the printer. Continue holding the button until the Ready light begins to flash.
  • Release the button: Once the Ready light starts flashing, release the Resume button. The printer will begin initializing.
  • Wait for the initialization to complete: The printer will go through its initialization process, which may take a few minutes. Once it's done, it should be reset to its factory settings, including the admin password.

After the reset, you should be able to access the printer settings using the default admin password (usually "12345678"). If the default password doesn't work, try leaving the password field blank.

Please note that performing a factory reset will erase any custom settings you've configured on the printer, so you may need to reconfigure the printer for your network and any other preferences you had set up previously.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks Alden4,

I tried your suggestion but it didn't work. However  tried holding both cancel and right arrow keys and it worked out just fine.

My thanks for the help. Appreciated.
