HP LaserJet Pro 400 Printer M401dw
Microsoft Windows 11

Recently upgraded to Windows 11. My Hp LaserJet Pro 400 Printer M401dw will not print on both sides or print specific pages (i.e.1-3,5,7). This printer is not listed on the Windows 11 compatible list. Is there a workaround that would resolve these issues?

Hi @joanos,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

This printer model isn't officially listed as compatible with Windows 11, but we can try a few workarounds to restore functionality. Here's how you can address the duplex printing and selective page printing issues:

1. Install the Latest Drivers:

Download Drivers: Visit the HP Support page for the M401dw and download the latest Windows 10 drivers.

Install in Compatibility Mode:

Right-click the driver file, select Properties.

Go to the Compatibility tab, check Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 10, click Apply, then OK.

Double-click the driver file to install.

2. Configure Duplex Printing:

Enable Duplex Printing:

Press Windows + R, type control printers, and press Enter.

Right-click your printer, select Printer properties.

Go to the Device Settings tab, set Duplex Unit (for 2-sided Printing) to Installed, click Apply, then OK.

3. Verify Printing Preferences:

Ensure Duplex Option:

Go to File > Print in your application.

Select your printer, click Preferences or Properties.

Under Finishing or Layout, check Print on both sides, confirm, and print.

4. Select Specific Pages to Print:

Page Range:

In the print dialog box, enter the desired pages (e.g., 1-3,5,7).

Ensure other settings are correct, then print.

5. Alternative Driver Option:

Use Universal Print Driver:

Download the HP Universal Print Driver, install it, and set it as the default driver.

Following these steps should help you regain duplex and selective page printing functionalities on your HP LaserJet Pro 400 M401dw with Windows 11. Let me know if you need more assistance! 😊

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?"—your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍
