I am having issues printing with my HP Officejet 6958. I send prints to it and the print queue says that there is an "Error - printing". I have checked the the "Printers & Scanners" section of the windows devices settings and also see under "HP OfficeJet 6950 [F400DD] an Error. I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling the printer software. I have also tried resetting the printer back to factory settings.

I have found the solution by trial and error.
Here are the steps for anyone having a similar to issue to me:
Open "Printers & Scanners"
In "Related settings" click "Run the troubleshooter"
Select "My printer is not listed"
Click "Open Add Printer Wizard..."
Click "The printer that I want isn't listed"
Select "Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings" and click next
Leave the default printer port and click next
If you see your printer click it and click next, but
If you do not click "Windows update" to update the list of printer drivers, and then
Select your manufacturer and your printer and let windows install this printer driver. In my case I installed the "HP Officejet 6950 PCL-3" drivers for my HP Officejet 6958.
This worked for me for printing, however the scanner does not work with these drivers. To access the scanner I used the HP Smart drivers. With this solution I have listed under "Printers & scanners" HP Officejet 6950 PCL-3 which should be listed whenever you print and I also have "HPF400DD (HP Officejet 6950)" for use when scanning, accessing the scanning prompt through the display on the printer.

Hi @kev123890,
I'd like to help!
Let's try and uninstall the printer software from the root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software.
--->In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
--->Select your HP printer.
--->Select Uninstall.
--->In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
--->In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
--->Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
--->Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
--->Click on the Drivers tab.
--->Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.
--->Select OK.
--->Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
--->Close Devices and Printers.
And then reinstall the printer full-featured drivers from software and drivers page
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I've done that and it still does not work. I am getting a "Driver is unavailable" error message in the "Printers & scanners" setting window. When I try the "Diagnose & Fix" option in HP Smart it does not fix the issue and the test print window says "Your printer has experienced an unexpected configuration problem. 0x8007007e." I hope this information helps you help me. Thank you.
