HP Recommended

Hello,

I bought an hp envy 6020e printer as a gift to a family member. When setting it up yesterday I agreed to the prompt to enable hp plus (the printer wouldn’t complete installation without agreeing to hp plus)

Now after looking into what hp plus actually is I’ve learned that I now can only use hp ink cartridges with the printer. This is a disgrace I think as the hp cartridges are a fortune and don’t last long.

I want to know if there is a way of disabling hp plus as I don’t want to be held to ransom with what ink cartridges I use. I am extremely disappointed with hp about this!

Hi @BlanderRich,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

You can disable the HP cartridge protection through the internet or non-internet connection options. For the non-internet connected printers, you must locate the ‘Devices and printers’ option on the control panel. Next, select your HP printer, click on the ‘Cartridge protection tab’ in the HP toolbox, select the ‘Disable cartridge protection’ option, and save.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
