Deskjet Ink Advantage 2676
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP DeskJet 2600 series, and i'm having trouble with the Hp Print and Scan doctor.

The HPPSD used to work fine, and i'm guessing that a recent windows 10 update could have messed things up, though i'm not sure. What happens now is that the HPPSD says that the printer is not connected no the wi-fi, but i can use the printer via Hp Smart, meaning it's connected.

The HPPSD gives the option to "try again" justifying that it will be a deeper search (?). But after some time the app gets stuck and freezes. It also gives me an option to "connect" which is pointless since it's already connected.

I need to use the HPPSD to try and correct some cartridge problems i'm having, as in, the black ink cartridge (brand new), started to slowly get less intense and now it simply won't print in black (the cartridge is full and is original).

I'm feeling really disappointed and abandoned by HP, there's so little to do when you run into problems...

Try this version of the Doctor...

Caveat:

Know that for "quality" issues in printing, even this doctor may not be able to resolve whatever is going on.

More information later in this message.

Offline Doctor V5.0.7

  http://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/patches/HPPSdr.exe

  • Download and Save the doctor to your computer
  • Open File Explorer > Navigate to the folder in which you saved the file (likely Downloads)
  • Execute the doctor – Answer any prompts /  let the process complete
  • Restart the computer, log in, and wait for the final steps in the Doctor to finish.
  • Check for any difference.

Paraphrased

Connection Issues

  • Print and Scan Doctor Version 5.0.7 creates a secondary queue for printing with TCP/IP port.

After the Offline Doctor completes…

Verify / Adjust the “Default” printing device (Default Printer)

Settings > Devices > Printers and scanners

UNCHECK (clear box) Let Windows manage my default printer

Select (Left-Click) your printer from the list of printers > Manage > Set as Default

OR

Open Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers > Right-Click on printer > Set printer as Default

NOTES – Selecting Default Printer

  1. Do not select the printer marked as “Scan Only / DO NOT DELETE”
  2. Do not select the printer marked as “Fax”

Example Default Printer:  Set “Default” Printer = HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 series PCL-3 (Net)

ReferenceHP Printers - Printer is Offline (Windows) > Step 2: Manually set the default printer

What else?

Check / Correct print quality issues manually, that is, don't depend on the doctor to correct this kind of problem.
