Okay, I'm a bit of an amateur as this is my first Macbook in a decade and I'm no programmer. I may need a bit more of a step by step guide. I've copied the text from the mac rumours forum into Terminal, do I export / save as something? What's the next step after that? Thanks so much!

So, I was able to install a previous HP software update from support.apple.com dated 12/11/2020, and it worked on my Monterey 12.01. https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1888?locale=en_US

See the post by SSC_UK Posted 11-27-21.
1. Bring up a Terminal window.
2. Copy each line in SSC_UK post, one at a time and hit return.
This doesn't have all the drivers, especially for the newer printers. But, I was able to use the older HP Color LaserJet M750 driver for my M751. All seems to work, and all thanks to SSC_UK , and not HP.
Now if I could only get drivers for the 36" HP DesignJet T730. What a way to spend $2,800 and have it just sit there collecting dust.

I responded to your other post as well, but here's my user testimony, so others know it's legit:
THANK YOU! This finally solved my problem.
Printer: HP Deskjet 3054 (HP Deskjet 3050 J610 series), connected wirelessly
OS: macos 12.0.1 Monterey
This worked for my Deskjet 3054. I hope it didn't also install malicious code 😶🌫️
Prior to this, I tried to download the driver package from apple (https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1888?locale=en_US), but that gave me an error saying it was only compatible with macOS 12.0 and earlier, while I was already on 12.0.1.
I was able to install the printer with generic HP Deskjet drivers, and it would accept things into the print queue, which would then show the document printing, but nothing was physically happening on my printer. It was incredibly frustrating.
After allowing your pkg to mount and install, I was able to install the driver specific to my printer, and now it seems to be working great. Thank you!!
I can't believe Apple and/or HP haven't addressed this. It seems like it would be a pretty straightforward fix. I guess not many people rely on personal printers these days.

i downloaded the 2020 software update from apple support, and my old workhorse laserjet P1006 now works! Try it? https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1888?locale=en_US
