Hi @Bipin8,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The HP ENVY 4520 printer software does not transmit or store your wireless LAN password to HP servers or share it externally. Here's a breakdown of how it works:

How the Software Recognizes Your WLAN Password:

Local Network Settings Access:

  • The software installed on your computer or mobile device can access the network settings saved on your device. If you've previously connected to the Wi-Fi network, your computer stores the password locally, which the software reads to connect the printer to the same network.

Temporary Use:

  • The password is used only locally to establish communication between your printer and router. It is not sent to HP servers.

Encryption:

  • The communication between your printer and the router is encrypted using industry-standard security protocols.

Addressing Privacy Concerns:

  • No Data Transmission: HP does not collect or store your WLAN password. The software works within your local network and does not transmit your Wi-Fi credentials to external servers.
  • Transparency: HP adheres to strict privacy policies, and you can review their data collection practices in the End User License Agreement (EULA) or their Privacy Policy.

If You Still Have Concerns:

  1. Use Manual Setup: Instead of using the software, you can manually input the Wi-Fi password directly on the printer using its control panel.
  2. Disable Automatic Setup: During the setup process, opt out of any features that might involve automatic detection or sharing of settings.
