, I have a hp seola 1800-01 and after changing the wifi, on the hp app it will show the printer ready but would then show “check the printer there is a problem with your printer” but doesn’t show anything when pressed to see what problem is it. What’s the possible issues? How do I do a hard reset?

Hey Gaya1239,

thank you for responding! The model is HP Neverstop 1001nw Wireless Monochrome Laser Cartridge. So I moved to a different location recently and so I needed to change the wifi network connected to the printer. I looked up how to reset wifi and as directed- I press the wifi and then “x” button till the power button went blinking, then the wifi sign will start blinking blue, meanwhile on the hp app, I don’t see a delete printer, so I pressed hide printer. Then on app, I add new printer, found and connect to my printer and entered the new network. Then the printer does say ready with green dot, but would then turn amber warning sign with “there’s a problem with your printer” and “check your printer”. I tried resetting the printer overall with the power cord and taking out the cartilage and putting back but it still says there’s an issue without details on what’s the problem.

Hi @seola-1800-01,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you have gone through the correct steps to change the Wi-Fi network on your HP Neverstop Laser 1001nw, but you're encountering an issue that is causing the printer to display a "check your printer" error message without providing further details. Here are some possible causes and steps to perform a hard reset that might help resolve the issue:

Possible Causes

Incomplete Wi-Fi Setup: Even though the printer shows as connected, there might have been an interruption during the Wi-Fi setup, causing the connection to be unstable or incorrect.

Firmware or Software Issues: There could be a firmware glitch or software issue that occurred during or after changing the network settings.Update the firmware on an HP printer

Printer Error: The printer might have a hardware issue or a specific error code that isn't being displayed on the HP Smart app.

Steps to Perform a Hard Reset on HP Neverstop Laser 1001nw

Turn Off the Printer: Ensure that the printer is turned off and unplug the power cord from the printer.

Remove the Power Cable: Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet and from the back of the printer. Wait for about 60 seconds.

Reconnect the Power Cable: Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then into the printer.

Turn On the Printer: Turn on the printer by pressing the power button. Wait for the printer to go through its startup process.

Reset Network Settings:

  • Manual Reset: Hold down the Wi-Fi and the "X" button simultaneously until the power button starts blinking.
  • HP Smart App: Open the HP Smart app on your device, select "Printer Setup," and follow the instructions to reconnect the printer to the Wi-Fi network.

Re-add the Printer in the HP Smart App:

  • Go to the HP Smart app and remove or hide the printer if it’s still listed.
  • Select "Add Printer" and follow the instructions to add the printer back to the app using the new Wi-Fi network.

Check for Updates:

  • Open the HP Smart app and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Installing the latest updates can resolve many issues.

Additional Troubleshooting Steps

Check Printer Status Lights: Observe the lights on the printer for any error codes or indicators. Refer to the user manual for understanding these error codes.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor: If you are using a Windows computer, you can download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility. This tool can automatically diagnose and resolve many printer issues. HP Print and Scan Doctor

Factory Reset:

  • To perform a factory reset, press and hold the Wi-Fi and power button until the printer resets (the lights blink or power button starts blinking).
  • After resetting, reconfigure the printer on the new network using the HP Smart app.

Refer to this document: HP Neverstop Laser 1001nw User manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
