Hp Deskjet 2800e Windows 7 installation.

I manage to install as a printer and a different scanner like 2 device but I like to know if any inf file can manage to install as one device.

Hi @ChrisT17

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

You're tackling an advanced issue — and you're right to want the HP DeskJet 2800e to install as one unified device (printer + scanner) rather than showing up as two separate devices on Windows 7

Let's get into the details and your options.

The HP DeskJet 2800e series is not officially supported on Windows 7, especially with full HP Smart integration.

HP has dropped support for Windows 7 in its latest drivers and software bundles for newer "e" series printers.

That’s likely why you’re seeing the printer and scanner as separate devices — because only basic fallback drivers (usually via Windows Update or generic USB PnP) are being used.

Still, you're not totally out of luck.

Use the HP Basic Drivers (Legacy INF-Based)

HP sometimes provides basic driver packages (INF-based) that you can manually install on older OS versions.

  1. Go to HP Drivers for DeskJet 2800e
  2. Change the OS to Windows 7
  3. Look for a download like: HP DeskJet 2700/2800 Series Basic Driver – Windows 7
  4. Download and extract the .exe using 7-Zip or similar.
  5. Go to Device Manager → Update Driver → "Browse" → Point to the extracted folder.
  6. Do this for both the printer and scanner.

This may unify them under a single composite USB device, depending on what’s in the INF
