Hewlett Packard - please help me.

I called HP for help with my printer.  The person on the conversation said he/she would have a technician call me.  About 10 minutes later, he called.  His accent was very heavy...almost not understandable. I ended up giving him access to my computer to fix the problem.  After about 3.5 hours he offered me an option to purchase a guaranteed firewall for 5 years for $500.  I told him I was not sure he was legit so he sent me the case no. and his name etc.  I paid it.  The printer still wasn't fixed but he said another guy would call me tomorrow to fix that.  That also took about 2.5 hours and he said "Your printer driver is fixed" and hung up.  My credit card company is say it's a legit  deal.  I know it isn't.  I called HP and they said the case number he gave me does not exist.  When he sent his info to the credit card company, he told them I bought 2 website designs and 2 logo designs.  Not at all what he sold me.  The fake company is call SP EBC Web Services in Sioux Fall, Washington.  If anyone can help, please let me know!!!

Hi @Euph1971,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I’m so sorry you had to go through such a stressful experience. Let’s take this step-by-step so we can report it properly and try to get you some help and closure.

To begin with, could you please tell me:

Where exactly did you find the phone number or link to contact HP?

Was it from a Google search, social media ad, pop-up, or a third-party website?

Can you share the name of the website you used or the URL, if you remember or can check your browser history?

This is very important because many scam websites look almost identical to HP’s official support, and knowing the source helps HP and the authorities track down and shut those scammers down.

In the Meantime:

Here's what I suggest:

1. Immediately contact your bank or credit card issuer again:

Let them know this was fraud, not a real transaction.

Share that the company misrepresented what was sold (you never bought website or logo design).

Mention the case number is fake, and HP has no record of it.

2. Disconnect Your PC from the Internet

Since the scammer had remote access, we need to limit their control immediately.

3. Run a Full Virus & Malware Scan

Use software like Malwarebytes, Windows Defender, or Norton, if available.

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!

Best regards,

Kuroi_Kenshi
