Hi @Libra62

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e is having an issue with its scanner component, and you're seeing an error message stating, "Scanner Problem. Restart the printer. If not resolved, the scanner component is broken."

This error usually indicates a hardware issue with the scanner itself, but before jumping to conclusions, let's go through some troubleshooting steps to ensure it's not a software or temporary issue.

1. Restart the Printer

  • Turn the printer off and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for 30 seconds to 1 minute before plugging it back in and turning it on again.
  • This can often reset any minor hardware or software glitches that might be causing the error.

2. Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions

  • Make sure there are no paper jams or any obstructions inside the printer, especially near the scanner area.
  • Open the scanner lid and carefully check for any stuck paper or debris around the scanner's moving parts (like the glass scanner bed or the scan head).

3. Check Scanner Glass

  • Clean the scanner glass using a soft, lint-free cloth and some glass cleaner or isopropyl alcohol. Sometimes, dirt, smudges, or fingerprints on the scanner glass can trigger errors.
  • Make sure the scanner bed is clear and clean.

4. Check the Scanner Motor

  • Listen carefully when you turn the printer on. If you hear any grinding or strange noises coming from the scanner area, it could indicate that the scanner motor is malfunctioning.

5. Update Printer Firmware

  • Outdated firmware can sometimes cause errors. To update your printer's firmware:
    1. Open the HP Smart app or go to the HP support website.
    2. Search for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e and check if there's a firmware update available.
    3. Follow the on-screen instructions to update the printer firmware.

I hope this helps.
