Hi @rlkocher1,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are trying to enable duplex printing (printing on both sides of the paper) on your Chromebook with the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw, follow these steps:

Check Printer Settings on Chromebook:

  • Open the document or image you want to print.
  • Click on the three vertical dots (More options) in the upper-right corner of the application or browser window and select "Print."
  • In the print dialog that appears, look for the “More settings” option.
  • Expand “More settings” and look for the “Two-sided” option. If it's not visible, it may be because the printer driver or settings for duplex printing are not fully supported on your Chromebook.

Update or Add Printer on Chromebook:

  • Go to Chrome OS settings by clicking on the clock in the bottom-right corner, then click on the gear icon.
  • Navigate to "Advanced" > "Printing" > "Printers."
  • Click on "Add a printer" and see if your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw is listed. If not, you can try adding it manually using its IP address.
  • Make sure the printer driver on your Chromebook is up-to-date. Chromebooks generally use generic drivers, but sometimes manual updates or adjustments are needed.

Check Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up-to-date. You can check for firmware updates through the printer’s web interface (accessed via the printer’s IP address) or using the HP Smart app on your mobile device.

Use HP Smart App or HP Print for Chrome:

  • If available, use the HP Smart app on your Android device to configure print settings and ensure duplex printing is enabled. Then, send the print job to the Chromebook.
  • Alternatively, you can use the "HP Print for Chrome" extension from the Chrome Web Store if it supports your printer model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
