Is HP Smart Tank 6001 compatable with OS10.15?

I understand the HP Smart Tank 6001 is compatible with macOS 10.15 Catalina. However, the HP Smart app or the printer software might not function fully if the software versions are outdated. Here's how to resolve the issue and proceed with the setup:

1. Confirm Compatibility

2. Update macOS

  • Check that your macOS 10.15 Catalina is fully updated. Go to System Preferences > Software Update and install any available updates.

3. Troubleshooting the Printhead Alignment Scan

  • Ensure the printhead alignment page is loaded correctly on the scanner glass:
    • Place it face down on the scanner glass according to the alignment markers.
  • Restart the printer and try scanning the alignment page again through the HP Smart app.
  • If the alignment fails, skip the step and complete the setup. Later, you can manually align the printheads through the printer control panel or HP Smart.

4. Uninstall and Reinstall Printer Software

  • Remove any previously installed printer software:
    • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    • Select the printer and click Remove (-).
  • Download the latest drivers and software from the HP Support website.
  • Re-add the printer after installation.

5. Manually Align the Printheads

If the automated alignment process fails:

  • Go to the printer control panel or HP Smart app settings.
  • Select Printhead Alignment under maintenance or tools.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.
