Hi @253253

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating it feels when you’re certain the IP address is correct, yet the setup tool still refuses to find the printer. You’ve already shown persistence by trying multiple times, so let’s carefully check the conditions that can cause this mismatch and walk through the right way to reinstall your HP Envy 4500.

Steps to resolve

Confirm the printer’s IP directly

  • On the printer’s control panel, press the Wireless button.
  • Print a Network Configuration Page.
  • Note the IPv4 address listed there (it should look like 192.168.x.x).

Check computer and printer are on the same network

  • On your Windows computer, open Command Prompt and type ipconfig.
  • Compare your computer’s IPv4 address with the printer’s.
  • Both should share the same first three sets of numbers (for example, 192.168.1.xxx). If they differ, the printer may be on a different network band or router.

Avoid typing errors

  • When entering the IP, ensure you use periods between each section and no spaces.
  • Example: 192.168.1.25 (not 192,168,1,25 or 192.168.1.25 ).

Test connectivity

  • In Command Prompt, type ping <printer IP> (for example, ping 192.168.1.25).
  • If you get replies, the printer is reachable. If not, the printer may have lost its network connection.

Re‑establish wireless connection

  • On the printer, press Wireless → Settings → Restore Network Defaults.
  • Reconnect the printer to your Wi‑Fi using the Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Print another Network Configuration Page to confirm the new IP.

Use the HP App for installation

  • Download the HP App from the Microsoft Store.
  • Open the app → Add Printer → Select your HP Envy 4500.
  • The app should automatically detect the printer once it’s on the same network.

Firmware update

By confirming the IP directly from the printer, ensuring both devices are on the same network, and reconnecting through the HP App, you should be able to complete the reinstall successfully.
