I bought a new laptop and the new printer software will does not have a multi page scanning

Much depends on the application or software --

The available apps and software depend on the supported Operating System / version.

In general, if something was there (supported and available) before, it can be made available again.

• Applications are better than nothing and provide standard features.
• Full Driver Software is typically more robust than apps but does require a supporting OS, perhaps Windows or MacOS.

Printers that do not support Automatic 2-sided scans and / or do not have an Automatic Document Feeder support fewer "automatic" features than do printers that can "do it all".  Printers that cannot "do it all" by themselves require software to assist or extra steps to make up for the lack of hardware and features.
