Hi @Sharkman69,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Error code 9 on your HP Smart Tank 7000 printer typically indicates a hardware issue or a problem with the setup process. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues.

Check Connections: Ensure that all cables connecting the printer to your computer or network are securely plugged in. Also, check the power cable and make sure it’s properly connected to a power source.

Update Firmware: Outdated firmware can sometimes cause connectivity issues. Visit the HP Support website, enter your printer model (Smart Tank 7000), and check if there are any firmware updates available. If so, follow the instructions to update the firmware.

Reset Network Settings: If you’re setting up the printer over a network connection, reset the network settings on the printer and then reconnect it to your Wi-Fi network or via Ethernet cable.

  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to Settings > Restore > Restore Network Settings.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the network settings.

Reinstall HP Smart App: If you are using the HP Smart App to set up the printer, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Sometimes, reinstalling the app can fix compatibility issues.

Check for Paper Jams: Open the printer’s cover and check for any paper jams or obstructions inside the printer. Clear any jams carefully according to the printer’s manual instructions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
