Let me share the steps to factory reset the printer in private message, because if these steps are tried on a different printer model they may potentially brick the printer.

To access it, click the private message icon in the upper-right corner of your HP Support Community profile, next to your name.

Take care and have a great day!

Hi @kuzmult,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you have forgotten the EWS password and want to reset the EWS (Embedded Web Server) password and restore factory defaults. On the printer’s touchscreen:

  1. Tap the Settings (⚙️) icon on the home screen.
  2. Scroll down and tap Service or Printer Maintenance.
  3. Select Restore Defaults or Restore Factory Defaults (wording may vary slightly by firmware version).
  4. Confirm the reset when prompted.

👉 This will:

  • Reset all settings, including network configuration and EWS password
  • Bring the printer back to its original factory state.

 After the Reset:

  • Access EWS by entering the printer’s new IP address in your web browser.
  • Log in with:
    • Username: admin
    • Password:(leave blank — or use default if prompted)

Now you can safely set a new admin password in EWS if needed.

For more help, sharing the HP User guide.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
