I cannot print a certain document. Others print. Can i please speak with technical support?

HP Support  is available for hardware issues to those whose devices are in Warranty.

Even were your printer in Warranty, not being able to print a particular document is not covered under hardware support.

What to do?

What you can do depends on the document - what kind of document and your Operating System, for example.

Office Word

If the document is a Word file (.doc / .docx), Microsoft provides advice on how to test and fix this type of issue.

For example,

Troubleshoot print failures in Word 

In general, copy the document content to another file and try printing that.

You can, for example, copy the contents of a Word file into another, blank, new document.

Save the contents and try to print.

"Pages" (Mac OS and iOS) documents might be treated in the same manner.

Copy the content into a new document, save, try to Print.

Export to a PDF file and print that...

About PDF files...

PDF files can be a bit tougher - and the reasons they don't print can vary.

Frequently, the reason the file won't print is simply that it contains content the printer cannot translate into something it understands. 

You could still try opening the PDF file and copying the contents into a Word document.

The results depend on the content.

What else?

For a PDF file, print the PDF file "as an image".

If the reason the file would not print is because the PDF file contains content that the printer cannot translate, printing as an image solves the problem.

Reinstall / Update your PDF Reader (Adobe Reader DC /Optional  Foxit Reader)

• HINT:  Watch out for and UNCHECK unwanted extra software
• Adobe Reader DC software should be installed even if you do not open / view / print PDF files directly from the software.

PDF - Print as Image

If the file will not print due to unusual content (odd fonts, color schemes, tables, other oddities), print the file as an Image.  Image printing does not require the printer software to translate file content.

1. Open the offending document in Adobe Reader DC

1. Click Print icon > Set other options on the menu > Click Advanced button

1. Set the printer select the colors (Optional)
2. Select Print the PDF file as an image

What else?

Some documents are protected against copy.  This is related to a Protected document.  For example, the author might set the document to be protected against copying to other files.  Protected documents, when they don't print, need to be sent back (or the author notified) that the print command is not working as expected. 

What?  Protected documents are not common in the home environment; protected documents are used by the creator of the document when the document is related to Real Estate or other legal documents.
