Hi @KCCONTROLLER,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To reconnect your HP Deskjet 2540 printer to your HP EliteBook 840 G3, follow these steps.
Remove Old Printer Connection
- Delete the Old Printer:
- Open the Control Panel on your desktop.
- Navigate to Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on your HP Deskjet 2540 and select Remove Device.
Reconnect to Wireless Network
Reset Printer Network Settings:
- Turn on your printer and hold the Wi-Fi button for about 5 seconds to reset its wireless settings.
- Wait for the wireless light to start blinking, indicating it's ready to connect.
Connect Using WPS (if your router supports it):
- On your printer, press the Wi-Fi button, then press the WPS button on your router within two minutes.
- The printer will automatically connect to the network, and the wireless light should become steady.
Using HP Smart App:
- Download and install the HP Smart App from the Microsoft Store.
- Open the app, and it should automatically detect your printer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to add the printer to your network.
Install Drivers and Software
Download Drivers:
- Go to the HP Drivers and Software page and enter your printer model.
- Download and install the latest drivers for the Deskjet 2540.
Add the Printer:
- Once the drivers are installed, go back to Devices and Printers.
- Click on Add a printer and select your Deskjet 2540 from the list.
Troubleshooting
- If the printer doesn't connect, make sure that both the printer and the computer are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Check your router settings to ensure that the printer is allowed to connect.
- You can also use the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool to diagnose and fix common printer issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
