Hi @RasmusJR

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I’m sorry you’re having trouble setting up your new HP printer via cable connection—it’s frustrating when the printer doesn’t get recognized, especially after trying multiple PCs.

Let’s go through some focused steps to get your printer connected smoothly.

Steps to Resolve Printer Not Recognizing Cable Connection

Check the USB Cable and Port

Use the USB cable that came with the printer or a high-quality USB 2.0/3.0 cable.

Try connecting the printer to a different USB port on your PC.

Avoid using USB hubs or extension cables during setup.

Restart All Devices

Turn off the printer and unplug it.

Restart your computer.

Plug in and power on the printer again, then reconnect the USB cable.

Install the Latest Printer Software

Download and install the full-featured printer software from the official site for your printer model and Windows 11:
HP Software and Drivers

During installation, choose the USB connection option when prompted.

Check Device Manager

Press Win + X, select Device Manager.

Look under Universal Serial Bus controllers or Printers for any unknown or problematic devices (yellow exclamation marks).

If found, right-click and uninstall the device, then unplug and reconnect the printer.

Try Another Computer Again

Since you’ve tested multiple PCs, confirm they all meet minimum USB and OS requirements.

Also, ensure that Windows 11 is fully updated on those PCs.
